Zaurbek Baysangurov has completed his training for the fight against famous Italian fighter Cristian De Martinis. The bout will take place on May 30th in Kyiv at «Comeback Fight» boxing tournament. It will be the 4th boxing tournament organized by «K2 East Promotions» promotional company this year. In the main event Zaurbek Baysangurov (20-1, 15 KOs), former EBU (European) light middleweight champion will fight Italian Cristian De Martinis (22-2, 10 ÊÎs) for vacant WBA Inter-Continental light middleweight belt.

We offer your attention a short interview with Zaur – one of the best boxers of «K2 East Promotions» speaks about his training and shares his expectations concerning the upcoming fight.

-How long have you been training? Did you have enough time because last time you fought just a little bit more than a month ago?

-In fact I’ve been training since February 21st when my brother Salambek and I left for the training camp in the USA. On April 22nd I had a tune-up fight against Mikheil Khucishvili and after that I immediately came back to the gym and went on with my training. Now I’m 100% ready for the fight – I’ve fulfilled everything that we planned before. The day before yesterday I had final sparring – 6 rounds against Denis Tsaryuk, a well-known Russian amateur boxer.

-What can you tell us about your opponent Cristian De Martinis? What do you know about his style? About his strong and weak points?

-I saw three his fights including the clash against Jackson Osei Bonsu for EBU (European) welterweight title. De Martinis fought a lot in a lighter division – in welterweight. He has fast legs; he is a very mobile and fast fighter but not throwing a lot.

-What can we expect from the upcoming fight against Cristian De Martinis?

-As I have already mentioned he is a fast boxer – but not a puncher. I do not think he will like to exchange. Most probably I’ll have to run after him in the ring. I’ll be pressing over him all the time as is my custom, I’ll be increasing the tempo and I hope to catch him and kayo him by the second half of the fight.

-Did you work on such a scenario in the gym?

-I had 115 rounds of sparring. More than half my sparring partners were amateurs with fast legs and they imitated De Martinis’s style quite successfully.

-What if he does not run from you and boxes aggressively instead?

-Well, of course, we thought over such scenario too and I’m ready to exchange. It would be even better for me.

-You trained by yourself for the fight against Cornelius Bundrage but when you fought Mikheil Khucishvili we saw Uweis Baysangurov again in your corner. And who worked with you during your training for the bout against Cristian De Martinis?

-My uncle Uweis Baysangurov trained me for De Martinis fight and he will be in my corner on May 30th. We continue to work together.
