Baysangurov, who posted two easy first-round destructions since an upset loss to Cornelius Bundrage last December, will defebd his WBA Intercontinental title in the same 154lb weight class against Nigerian native and former contender Eromosele Albert (22-2-1, 10 KOs), who has a handful of quality wins to his resume, including a shutout ten-round decision over Germaine Sanders this past January in his last fight. The banner name of the tournament “The Champ Comes Home” is a clear indication of both the anticipation, Chechen fans are expressing and feeling prior the homecoming of their sportive hero, and the odds’ assessment before the collision, which clearly favors Zaurbek.
Zaur’s younger brother Salambek Baysangurov (2-0, 1 KOs) will see action in a non-title four-rounder. Two more Chechen expatriates Jangubaev brothers – Magomed (3-0-1) and Zaurbek (3-5-1, 3 KOs) – are taking part in four- and six-round clashes against TBA’s respectively. The true gem of the undercard will be the reigning EBA heavyweight champion and WBA #13 Alexander Ustinov (16-0, 13 KOs). His opponent is still to be defined.
The Regional Public Fund in the name of Ahmad Kadyrov (the Hero of Russia and the late father of reigning Chechen president Ramzan Kadyrov) will take a vital part in arranging this competition.
