Uzelkov will face Tomas «Jumbo» Adamek (14-1-1, 6 KOs) from Czech Republic. Uzelkov’s foe was finally named at the presser held in Kyiv on October 13th.
Alexander Krasyuk, General Manager of «K2 East Promotions» was the first to take the floor: «We will do everything possible in order that in his next bout Uzelkov will fight for one of the world titles. It does not matter for us who will be Vyacheslav’s opponent. As you know former Uzelkov’s rival Gabriel Campillo whom Vyacheslav kayoed in 2007 later managed to win WBA World light heavyweight title. Moreover, Campillo was successful in defending his belt fighting in Kazakhstan against Beibut Shumenov. Due to some reasons one of which is that the result of the fight was later declared sort of dubious both fighters Campillo and Shumenov will clash again in the rematch at the beginning of 2010. In any case Vyacheslav Uzelkov is the mandatory challenger for WBA World light heavyweight belt and he has the right to claim that belt».
Then Vyacheslav Uzelkov gave some comment on the upcoming clash against Adamek: «I heard about him for the first time a few days ago only. It is not unusual for me – many times I faced situations when my foe was named at the last minute but I always came out victorious. I knew the date of my next fight as long ago as half a year. Last July in Odessa I had a nice tune-up fight and you’ll see how prepared I am on October 21st. I have been training a lot and hard. During last month I had nice sparring sessions with guys from Ukraine and Russia. I know that Tomas Adamek shone in the ring when he fought as an amateur, however, my amateur record is even better and I have more fights in my pro record. Be sure that I’ll have no problems with Adamek in the ring».
Maksim Bursak (18-0-1, 7 KOs), a hot middleweight prospect will step into the ring on the undercard the same evening. Bursak will clash against Sergey Khomitsky (21-4-1, 8 KOs) from Belarus.
Other «K2 East Promotions» fighters like Alexander Ustinov, Valery Brazhnik, Viktor Plotnikov, Kostya Rovenskiy, Artem Aivazidi, Allaudin Murtazaliev and Nikolay Israelyan will fight on the undercard of the boxing tournament billed «World Boxing in Kyiv» on October 21st too.
