Turkish fighter Selcuk Aydin (19-0-0, 15 ÊÎs) has recently vacated his EBU (European) welterweight title which he won in a clash against Jackson Osei Bonsu (30-3-0, 23 ÊÎs) last July. In accordance with the decision of EBU the title which has now become vacant will be claimed by boxers with the highest rating: former EBU (European) light welterweight champion Gianluca Branco (43-2-1, 22 ÊÎs) from Italy and former WBA World welterweight champion Yuri Nuzhnenko (29-1-1, 13 KOs), leading boxer of «K2 East Promotions» promotional company.

EBU has decided that both fighters’ teams should make an agreement concerning the terms of the contract by October 22nd. Otherwise purse bid will be announced the winner of which will get the exclusive right to promote the bout. If promoters of both Nuzhnenko and Branco fail to reach the agreement by schedule date the purse bid will be held at noon on October 22nd in EBU office in Rome, Italy.

Alexander Krasyuk, General Manager of «K2 East Promotions» gave his comment on the situation: «Now we are in the process of negotiations with Italian promotional company «OPI 2000» which promotes Gianluca Branco. If we fail to make a compromise and can not make the contract within 2 days we shall take part in the purse bid on October 22nd. We undoubtedly are interested in organizing that fight in Ukraine».

In addition to that Mr.Krasyuk strongly impugned rumors that recently appeared on the Internet concerning supposed fight between Yuri Nuzhnenko and Viktor Plotnikov (22-1-0, 10 ÊÎs), EBA (European Boxing Association) welterweight champion who is also promoted by «K2 East Promotions». «That is absolutely untrue. I do not understand what made people think so. We do not plan to organize such fight between our best welterweights so far. As far as both fighters’ schedules are concerned Plotnikov fights in an eight-rounder on October 21st in Kyiv against David Tlashadze from Georgia while, as you know, Nuzhnenko will claim vacant EBU welterweight belt in a clash against Gianluca Branco. Likely enough the fight will be organized by the end of this year», – added Mr.Krasyuk.
