On Wednesday night at Sport-Life nightclub in Kiev, Ukraine, two rapidly rising local prospects increased their winning streaks in style by dominating a couple of potent international opponents for minor WBC titles. Elite Boxing promoted an entire card.
In the main event, hard-hitting cruiserweight Dmytro Kucher (17-0, 13 KOs) looked sensational against lanky Argentinean Cesar David Crenz (20-6, 13 KOs), while acquiring a vacant WBC International Silver 200lb belt. Kucher brought his foe down to the canvas in the first and finished him off at 1:17 of the third round with a brutal barrage of punches, which sent Crenz right through the ropes.
Undefeated light welterweight hope and ranked #19 by the WBC Victor Postol (19-0, 9 KOs) defended the very same belt in his respective weight class in a not-so-easy collision with a rugged French challenger Yvan Mendy.
This war of attrition was rather monotonous with neither fighter getting a decisive edge. However, lanky local boy Postol was a better fighter in majority of the exchanges on the outside. Mendy had his moments in close and middle quarters but his effort wasn’t enough to turn back the tides. All three judges had it 117-111 – for the Postol. BoxingScene scored it a bit closer: 116-113 – also for the defending champion. Mendy drops down to 25-3-1, 13 KOs.
